Amazon Best Sellers Rank:

This is a Fantasy Romance novel, not Romance first, but it's intended for the young female reader who wants some real excitement in her story. Probably many teenage boys will love it too, from the number of positive reviews a lot of others did, but if you are a mature reader, especially if you've read a lot of fantasy, I'd say 2 dollars is 2 much.I'm a voracious reader, I'll read almost anything and, I thought, a best seller for two dollars? Sure, and then when I got to the end it was so exciting that I decided that three more books for six dollars was worth it too. I wish I hadn't.This series uses every standard trick, and the worst bit is that it's times two--a hero and a heroine--each of which is a very simple character with standard (and different) super powers. She is the ultimate magic user he ths super warrior. Then there are the standard plot twists, which I won't go into detail about because I don't want to spoil it for you. But I will say that in the second book he uses the same objectionable plot twist THREE times! I prefer it when that trick is never used, the second use and I'm screaming, the third and... well. And critical actions by the people in the stories are just stupid. I mean really stupid. But that's not the worst bit. In this series using a bow and arrow as a military weapon is a big innovation! There's an entire culture that rides horses into battle and no one else uses horses! It's just sad. Yea, you say, so why did you buy the entire series? Because on the bright side it is fairly well written, good pacing, and the exciting highs are really high. I more or less said "hang the realism, this is good stuff." But then, well, that was the first in the series. Book two is quite a bit worse. So why do I say the author is shooting for the young female audience? Well (though maybe I shouldn't admit it) I have read some of the modern romance fantasies, even finished a few, and basically this has all the hallmarks. Everyone, and I mean everyone, who is a main character is drop dead gorgeous. If you want to know how important someone is just check out how gorgeous they are. There are long chapters spent on loosing virginity, it is frankly lightly pornographic. So, if that's what you want, well there are better books out there.Oh, and finally, this is not a four book series. It's really, from what I can tell, two two book series. Which is not necessarily worse, but you don't need to read books three and four to get a grand completion. Book three really drops into soap opera stuff. So, in the end, if you want to read the first book go ahead. It is only two dollars. But don't say I didn't warn you. (And don't buy the second.)

This is a painful read. I made it to the halfway point hoping it would get better but it was too horrible to waste anymore time on. The writer was all over the place and the characters lacked any depth. The dialogue and situations are completely unrealistic and random. For example, the male lead had no interest in a secondary female character, but in the next chapter he is in love with her. Then he's sleeping with a random woman and the writer implies a deep connection between them when, according to the timeline, they could have only been together for a few days or a couple weeks. The story would also jump years, months, hours...you never knew what the hell was going on. Whole periods of the characters' lives, that were important to their development, were just passed over. I could go on and on. Just do yourself a favor and don't waste your money or time.

Wow. For the first book in a series, there's a LOT going on here.We have multiple characters, in multiple locations… but unlike G Martin, you can actually keep the storylines coherent in your mind.I will say that there is a stunning amount of violence, depicted just enough to get your mind to fill in the gaps. Those gaps were traumatising. There is so much death in this book.I'm the emotionally over-invested type, the kind who feels every blow & its consequences. If you have any sort of penchant for emotional involvement, be prepared to have your heart beaten black & blue, stabbed a few times, & dissected as you watch. It's rough going. The underlying heroes journeys, the character development, the world building & the pace are all excellent, which is why, despite my poor heart's traumas, this book gets five stars.Let's be real. This is me.That fifth star is for amazing editing, superlative grammatical structuring, & crafting something that is a pleasure to read, regardless of the content.I'm definitely seeing this series through to the end.

I have never left a review ... But read ... A ... Lot... I always tell my kids to just read the first few pages or the first chapter. If its no good, you don't have to read it. There are too many books in this world to give time to the boring ones... Unless of course its required reading. But sometimes a book needs a little time before it becomes good. I know of some popular books like that...(maybe you do too...I'm not going to name them) So, I start off by reading them out loud to get it started. Well.... This is the first book I listened to on Audible. It was a free trial. I had a VERY hard time getting into it. Basically thought it was a waist and wanted to end it. However, when I was on ling drives I would listen a bit. After about a month of listening here and there... I kinda wanted to know what would happen next. Lol. By half way through I gave up food and sleep to finish it... and o have to say this is now one of my all time favorite books! I cannot remember the last time I felt this way tward a book !!!! BEST BOOK EVER. Can not wait to read the next one. Better get the chores done first, b/c I know I'll be worthlessly lost in the next one. My advice is....just read the first few chapters...if you don't like it, don't finish it. (But you will) :-)

There are few books that Chai fully immerse me in the storyAmber Chronicles: ZelaznyWorld of Tiers: FarmerThis volume is another.Micro and Ella are siblings with a mysterious past.Ella saves up to learn to be an enchantress, and Miro attends the pens where Blade Master Brogan teaches boys to use swords in preparation to be blade singers.I got this book free through Prime Reading program but accidentally returned it before I finished. The story was so good I had to buy it. Once I was 50-55% through the story hit another octave and I simply couldn't put it down.I LOVED it. If you like Fantasy I think you will too! Highly recommended
